You can dance if you want to

Written by: 7 August 2015 4 Comments

BN1 put me onto this mix, I’d missed it, its a solid as mix… but one thing makes it my pick for the week edging out the Carl Craig mix that possibly deserves the title more.

At around 38 minutes in the grimy textures give way to an old classic… a kiwi classic… a non dance classic… that of The Chills and their song Pink Frost. There is no context nor rational reason for the inclusion of the song in the mix… it sits out like a sore thumb, for this reason alone its inclusion is fantastic… the fact its one of my fave songs ever makes that even better.

Now don’t just fast forward to the section in question, do listen to the mix and follow Rinse FM on the soundcloud… they supply me with a constantly changing aural wallpaper that makes me laugh, smile and tap my feet as I slave away in my office all week.

So there ya go, stick that in ya pipe and smoke it

Yes Bob! Cheers for checking my recommendation.

Big big fan of mumdance’s show, he plays quite extreme electronic stuff mixed with bits of vocal grime, the instrumental ‘weightless’ stuff, and old school rave, really good selection skills. Definitely check his fabric mix out if you have a chance where he does a similar selection.

We can dance if we want to We can leave your friends behind ‘Cause your friends don’t dance and if they don’t dance Well, they’re no friends of mine Say, we can go where we want to A place where they will never find And we can act like we come from out of this world Leave the real one far behind And we can dance Or sing!
