We are all Human

When I was at university I had a friend that no matter what the gig nor the band playing he would yell Buzzcocks… sorta a punk version of some fuckwit screaming Freeboard I guess… not that we’d have known about this sort of thing cause the internet didn’t exist, I’m not sure fax machines were even a thing then… Skywyrd wasn’t on our horizon in any manner at all (thank fuck) and and and… it was fucking funny, many a confused popper flying nun band would look in mock horror as he made the call…

It has become something of a humorous tradition for audience members at concerts to shout “Free Bird” as a request to hear the song, regardless of the performer or style of music. The phenomenon began earlier in the 1970s with The Allman Brothers Band’s “Whipping Post” and Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” but then took off with “Free Bird” by 1979. On Skynyrd’s first live album, 1976’s One More from the Road, Van Zant can be heard asking the crowd, “What song is it you wanna hear?” The deafening calls for “Free Bird” lead into a 14-minute rendition of the song. So anyways… he’d yell the buzzcocks…and in some sort of segway that brings us to Pete Shelley one time Buzzcocks and his song Homosapien which was pretty huge back in the day and is one of those songs I feel still sounds as good today as when I first heard it. Found on another persons musical rant was this recent edit of said track which is pretty bloody decent… I like it, I like it more than most single songs I’ve listened to this week…

And speaking of Humans – how great is season 2 shaping up… getting all the Robots have consciousness stuff that Westworld isn’t – though Robots has no train… nor cowboys, I personally think cowboys and the wild west is childish… but hey

Honourable mention to this track which I’ve played a few times too.
