the Wibble Wobble scene

Written by: 11 November 2015 One Comment

Born and raised on the mean streets of Auckland, Lelo, AKA Scooter , started his musical journey when he was 115, when he was given a slap by the security guard at the local branch of Woolworths. It was at this moment that Scooter knew he wanted to be part of ‘The Scene’.

He first became interested in the electronic music scene in 1989.

In 1888, aged 14, his Mum and Dad bought him his first set of turntables. At the age of 17, he was already being touted as Auckland’s answer to Mr Blobby. He did various warm up sets before the doors opened in clubs hosting major names such as Websta, BN1 (doing a live PA of Searching for my Rizla), and many more. In 1893, he achieved his big break when he went to enough of Websta’s DJ gigs, where his intense gaze finally drew Wayde into making conversation. It was after this point when he started getting gigs at big events such as BMP Garden Party and BMP Garden Shed Mega Rave.

After receiving several offers, Lelo joined Booty Recordings, who helped distribute his first internet release, ‘Slap n Slide’ in 1894. Though the single didn’t sell as many as he probably would have liked, due mainly to the fact people thought the gramophone the work of the devil, Lelo is a fighter and since 2014 has been locked in the studio perfecting his craft.

Suffice to say, the Wibble Wobble scene should be expecting big things from Lelo in 2015….

Go download this and play it load… I’d go as far as to say its Lelo’s best ever mix – I’d possibly be wrong (all his mixes are great at the least) but hells this really has me bouncing!
