Point That Thing Somewhere Else

The Clean were the first South Island-based post-punk group to gain a national following, on the back of a brace of instantly memorable songs including ‘Tally Ho’, ‘Anything Could Happen’, ‘Beatnik’ and ‘Getting Older’…

About to be inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame, Dunedin band The Clean prefer to look forward rather than back

“It’s a strange thing dealing with other people’s perception of your music and what you stand for as a band.”

A hugely important band in NZ music and this week they will be inaugurated to the Hall Of Fame along with founding partner, the late Peter Gutteridge. Grant Smithies, Graeme Hill and Flying Nun founder Roger Shepherd talk about the band and spin some favourites and significant rarities.

If you drew a tree of New Zealand rock, The Clean would in all likelihood be the trunk.
