It was this or Lorde…

This song reminds me of the more innocent times of my youth…. hot summers driving up and down the country catching waves and going to gigs… experimenting with drugs, staying up late talking shite and wearing woollen hats.

Taken from Rembrandt Pussyhorse the song appears twice in slightly differing guises; the album kicks off with Creep in the Cellar… and finishes with In The Cellar, subtle differences in title and structure of the song – to this day I’m not sure which I prefer and I like that.

When this came out as far as I was concerned outside of New Zealand the Butties as we fondly called them were the best guitar band in the world, I’m not totally sure if in my mind they’ve ever been beat, though as I am not that guitar driven in my musical wanderings I’m not sure I care to bother thinking too long on this.

I saw them play once at the Gluepot, they were awesome – we hired a mini van (the butties bus) and drove a crew up from the Tron, all but the driver were in high spirits before left Clarence Castle (my flat in Hamilton)… the day/night is a glorious psychedelic memory in my mind.

So its getting warmer here in old Auckland town… and I’m thinking of warmer weather and different times….

…but not jazz.

Never Jazz.

Well maybe those old Shimmy Disc free jazz noise releases like this.

and once more for good measure the album in its entirety

For the record I fucking dig the Disclosure feat Lorde track!

you could very well be right

I do know we had a pit stop where the metropolis building is now – which doesn’t help but its an amusing memory

One of the great things you can do in this life is ask Phil A if he’s ever seen the Buttholes… mind best step back after you ask the question
