How can I live when you see what I’ve done?

It’s NZ Music Month… and while I do my best these days to ignore that it still has a way of creeping up on me… what with the awesomely nostalgic RIU archive going online (first 100 issues), the publishing of Shayne Carter’s first (of many I hope) book Dead People I Have Known, me purchasing some old gems on discogs (yeah I got the original but who knows where that is in my clutter) cause I couldn’t find the Carl Craig record I wanted (juno sorted me there)… fending off buying the new Aldous Harding record – I’m a fan but I just don’t think I need to own this (update – five minutes later bob bought the Harding record)… its been a decent kiwi-ish theme in my world – no gigs attended but hey ya can’t have everything can ya

However the thing I’ve most enjoyed this month is the Clicks remake of the Chills Pink Frost, a song that I’ve loved since I first heard it in 1984… a band I adore and still consider one of the best live bands I ever had the pleasure (back in the day, not so much the old man band they are now)…

I love acid and Anna Coddington’s voice is just sublime, whats not to like? One of my all time favourite tracks given a kick in the guts

Here’s a link to the video which doesn’t want to embed and has pretty dire sound

Yep its been a good month

For good measure here’s my other fave cover of Pink Frost, Shine on indeed

There’s also this version which I love/hate – its awesomely horrid

Then there’s these two versions found on a compilation of Kiwi Songs that are both a bit meh

If I wasn’t so lazy I’d now do a roundup of the many covers of Chills Songs I’ve come across over the years… but fuck that

To round out and finish this off here’s the flip of the original Pink Frost 7″ – as much as I love Pink Frost… I like this even more
