Goodtimes – Drumpoet on Acid

Willie Graff And Tuccillo – When The Sun Goes Down [Drumpoet]

After going through a bit of a full on love affair with drumpoet for awhile, I was pretty pleased to discover this new one on the weeekend. After listening to the track I had to do a bit of research as Willie Graff was a new name to me. Apparently he is a resident at Cielo in New York…….no further explanation needed. Anyway, the track builds from a deep, dark, moody start, some strings appear (as you would expect from drumpoet) – then the coup d’état – an acid line! WINNER!

The track has a deep groove that builds throughout and makes you grin like an idiot. As a bonus, the flip side “Bang” is damn fine as well – jacking goodtimes with a catchy sample (but sans acid).

Sascha Dive – Midnight Blues [Love Letters From Oslo]

I was starting to get a little bit over Sascha Dive tracks of late, as they started sounding a bit samey to my ear but I like this new one. It has a nice atmospheric build up with a muted horn, or maybe muted keys – muted something anyway; some background chatter and a few sweeps thrown in for good measure…..rinse and repeat.

Its a pretty crap sample – but when the track is played excessively loud on good speakers, it sounds top shelf good. Just ask my neighbours.

On the mix front, the Solomun Podcast over at LWE is a good listen as well:

02. Amelie vs Audiofly, “Move” [Supernature]
03. Robert Dietz, “Shunsower” [Cécille Records]
