The Cricket season has concluded, my second year back.

This season I was able to convince the captain of my ability, not only with the ball but also with the bat. In accordance with this increased role I was able to grab myself a new bat (http://www.stink-finger.com/cricket-the-gentlemans-game/).

This worked out a bit better than I had envisioned!!

After a pretty good go of it all season, with a couple of 40′s and a 63, I was dreading the end of the season which came all to fast. To my horror I was (poorly) informed that the last game was due. So I sat down and worked out what was required to achieve some super Stats for the season. The goal being a measly batting average of 50. I discovered that I needed to grab a score greater than 102*. Being as I am a quiet achiever I decided to tell everybody who would listen that I was gonna score that 102* on the weekend. A rather big call that!

I got 108*, and 5 wickets for 11 runs of 9 overs.

Not a bad day at the office that. On top of that I also got fucked out of my 1st ever hat-trick by a cheating umpire… this nearly led me to kick down the stumps Michael Holding style, but decorum prevailed (possibly something to do with having already scored a 100).

So I had nailed my goal for a 50 average for the season like a champion!! The bowling figures were quite epic as well, but that was secondary this season. My winter was gonna be a happy time, as they say you’re only as good as ya last game and I was on fire for that sucker!

Then disaster struck.

We had another bloody game.

Now I had to score 50 just to maintain my super stats. 100* and 50 in consecutive games? Unlikely….

Unless you’re me!

I collected 58 before missing a straight one, my bowling was rubbish but lets not dwell on that….

So now the season is assuredly over and I have got some numbers I can bore people with for years to come!
