I was reading too much about the earthquake on my bus ride into work this morning and one of those articles was from The Spinoff and its a great read, comparable to the excellent Steve Braunias one also found on The Spinoff – real stories written by people with a flair for words… I take some sort of comfort from their writing… sitting in Auckland safe and sound going about my usual dreary work week routine.
Anyways the reason I’m posting this is because Naomi’s piece dredged up a song I’d not listened to for …

Scratched his head, then pulled his ear… viva the hand!

Scratched his head, then pulled his ear
Reached out for a glass of beer
Ricky’s hand [Repeat: x1]
From the pocket it pulled five pound
Ricky bought another round
Ricky’s hand [Repeat: x1]

Not constantly or any brain damaging kind of itch, just a seemingly random mental reminder that I really want to hear a song and this always sends me off on internet searches usually youtube based wanting to hear the song and put it to bed – if the songs …

Todays youth bought me to this… a track I used to regularly play on the radio back in 91 I got here via a remix and the inter webs, in which we are currently
Fucking hell …

Shades of Jae

BUT i truly love dozens of songs by Kenny Dixon jr
like J.A.N.

or the Live in LA version, i had a musical moment upstairs at Inmusic with Bob and Mark Nola when they played the test cd for me up there.
