Today we welcome Ivy Marguerite Webster to the BMP family.

She arrived via the wonderful iNat yesterday at 3pm weighing in at 2.67kgs.

Welcome little one, we look forward to hearing the music you deem worthy and the sports commentaries you simply won’t be able to stop yourself speaking

Last year Arch Hill celebrated it’s 10th Birthday at the Kings Arms with a BBQ and bands like The Bats, Minisnap, Surf City, Superette, Family Cactus, Polaroyd/Bird Nest Roys, Andrew McKenzie, White Swan Black Swan and others playing… it was a great afternoon and Pavement even turned up (and got in trouble for bringing along their own beer after band practice).

This year we plan to do more relaxing, drinking beer and enjoying good music and sunshine. This time we have invited our good buddies Muzai Records along for the party and added an extra outdoor stage.

Most exciting of all is that this year we will have The Clean at the show. This is one of only two New Zealand shows before they head to Australia for Golden Plains and an Australian Tour….that’s right, lets say that again – THE CLEAN!

Although we are calling it a BBQ, strictly speaking there will not be a BBQ. Instead (after their popularity at the Laneway Festival and our Christmas party) we will have Tasty Hungarian Langos bread available in the garden bar. Yum.

1. Laneway and Splore City Highlights

I didn’t get to go to a festival in the refurbished Aotea Square – Auckland Laneway, while having some kiwi bands who would have been good to see, didn’t have Bear in Heaven or Les Savy Fav and i was hanging out to see them both so I crossed the ditch to stay and go to the festival with my brother.

It was super cool. Split over 4 stages at an Arts University Campus in Central-West Sydney. The bands who stood out were the two i’d most wanted to see.

Someone got this video of Les Savy Fav singer Tim Harrington dry raping a VIP member at the side of the audience.

Splore City ended up moving to the town hall, which suited the acts i wanted to see, Caribou and Four Tet far better than a mid day concert could, whether in the square with grass and trees or not. Luckily security were very relaxed and i wasn’t strip searched for chewing gum and could drink a beer where ever i pleased.

The venue worked perfectly.

A lot can be said for MP3′s.

They’re free! Easy and instant to obtain.

But there’s one thing that has to be said for vinyl. That is, it’s the most sociable way to play and listen to music with a bunch of mates.

On Sunday 12 September, Bob, Scott and myself sat around skyped Benny, drank beer and played records! Possibly unbeknown to the other two i was recording the set and here’s the result. It’s actually only Bob playing (the MD only recorded the first 80 minutes) but I hope Bob’s going to be happy to have these records digitilised for his ipod, and we get them too!!

In true fashion, there’s a few gaps between records where Bob rushed to chuck on the next record. Enjoy, we did.

Yesterday the Auckland chapter of the BMP went to visit MOTAT as for Aucklander’s it is free for August – cool council styles right there!

For all but Websta this was the first time we’d visited in many years.
