The office had a day out yesterday, taking a trip out to Gibbs Farm which was a really nice day out and a huge mind fuck cause the cultures are huge, generally awesome and quite something to behold.
Today I am listening to Hula, a old electronic/industrial act from the 80s/90s… in particular their Shadowland album which is more ambient than anything… it makes me feel sophisticated… like some dude who you know went to a farm and appreciated sculture.
I couldn’t find an embeddable versions… but here it is on a blogsite

Smiling is one of the warmest gestures a person can give to another person. It’s especially warm when children smile because it’s a sign of genuine happiness even if it’s for a slight moment – that smile is appreciated.
So smile dammit smile – if you care to of course, no pressure or obligation… we’re the BMP not a bunch of dicks…

So its been six days since Lorde dropped her latest single Green Light and in that time I’ve realised once again I am vastly unqualified to write anything meaningful about a piece of music I like… but here goes anyways
So on Friday and had the day at home… and was frantically refreshing my iTunes, youtube and twitters at 8am waiting for the single to drop- which it did for me at around 8:02, as the still unplayed iTunes purchase downloaded I fired up the video… played… listened and thought yeah nah… …

No time for a song of the week today, my usual day for posting such a thing… cause I’m all about tomorrow… the day I shall buy my first piece of music for the year – and yep I am excited, stupidly so.

When Shostakovich played the first two movements of his Seventh Symphony to his friends in the besieged city of Leningrad in the summer of 1941, his performance was interrupted by a German bombardment. As the air-raid sirens began to blare after he had finished playing the gigantic first movement – music that dramatises, parodies and immortalises the German invasion – he assured his audience that he would return to play the second just as soon as the warning had stopped and he had taken his wife and children to the shelter. As …

Yesterday I spent half an hour lending assistance to emergency services as they tried to revive a man who had collapsed in the neighbours bush while retrieving firewood… I held the saline drip solution bag that was attached to his arm and observed the paramedics and firefighters try and save him. He died on our drive.
His body lay there for the next few hours (covered) as someone came to pronounce him dead and then someone else to recover the body.
It’s been a week.
