Dalek vs Cheese in a Can: Stink-Finger Podcast #05

This is a mix I did for the biggie.co.nz House Forum Mix-Off.
The guidelines for the creation of the mix were:
Mixes are limited to 45 minutes each like half a T90 tape. If you go over, listeners will encouraged to stop listening at the 45 minute mark to turn the tape over.
Mixes can be made in any way you see fit on any medium.
House is a feeling, so stray where you will genre-wise but beware that by venturing into particularly niche territory you may give the game away.

Rest In Peace Michael Jackson

Pop giant Michael Jackson, who took to the stage as a child star and set the world dancing to exuberant rhythms for decades has died.
“Pop star Michael Jackson was pronounced dead by doctors this afternoon after arriving at a hospital in a deep coma, city and law enforcement sources told The Times,” the LA Times newspaper reported on its website.

Clouds are Grey

Andy Hughes, electronic music producer/DJ who was born 11th November 1965 and, and who lived and grew up in Harrow, Middlesex, tragically passed away on Friday 12th June 2009 after a short illness.
Andy was a genius who gave so much inspiration and passion to all with his incredible work. He was loved by many aficionados of the trance/ambient genre, but will be especially remembered for his work with Alex Paterson and The Orb, most notably the album Orblivion and single Toxygene, which reached number 4 in the UK charts in …

Guest Mix: McBean – Cosas Grandes

Cosas Grandes is lubricatedly brought to you by the insideout rolls at Samurai Sushi, pushing your dog in a pram up Oxford Street, bootygurn, the smell of petrol, eternally quivering okonomiyaki and takoyaki shaving garnish, 8am harvey wallbangers, haloumi cheese n’ fresh lime; and would not have been possible without the House and Techno music of jungles, bunkers, squats, favelas, Fubars, Womb, Lov.e, helicopter pads, Cobb Valleys, K Roads, Big Glass Boats and Hawkes Bay vineyards worldwide.
Tracklisting:
Beanfield feat. Bajka – Tides (Carl Craig mix)
Paul Ritch – Back to the Time

You’re a better man for getting through the day…

Music legend Chris Knox is reported to be in Auckland Hosptial after suffering a stroke on Thursday.
Since the Invercargill born misfit started Dunedin’s first punk band the Enemy in 1977, Chris has always been centre stage and always been his own man. His CV is full of artistic endeavours, all of them, bar his time leading Toy Love one of NZ’s most popular bands of the early ’80s, created in the front room of a rambling Grey Lynn villa.

You can follow Chris’s recovery via a blog his family and friends …

Hello Hero, Hero Hello

I’ve just added 146 Crass Songs to the bobpod
That is a hell of a lot of anger… and as far as I can tell its their entire recorded output – well legitamite output. I had to dump a bunch of Pet Shop Boys remixes to make space
I find this quite amusing
This is Darling from Stations of Crass, one of my fave songs of theirs.

Then there were three

The whole idea behind the BMP was for like minded individulas to gather together, listen and share music with one another and then drink and eat pizza – not always in that order, due to wresslin’ we often drank first then eventually found the music of the mat.
So what is it with three of the damn group buggering off oversea’s?
First Mick & BN1 go… BN1 comes back and leaves again.
Now the Disconinja has left us.
As much as the reminants of the NZ Branch of the BM wish him the best …

Please tell me it ain’t so….

Lelo announcing he’s retiring from DJing… I’m sorry I won’t have it.
Not one bit.
You either Websta
Sharing music is one of our collective greatest joys… it isn’t about spinning discs in a packed club… it is about sharing music when and where the notion strikes. That could mean at a BMP meeting… a small suburban bar… on a motherfucking boat…
Music is more than a hobby… it is a passion and no one should ever willingly turn their back on a aspect of their lives they love so.

Therefor Lelo & Websta you …

Stan Freberg (Modestly) Presents the United States of America, Vol. 1

The first record I ever fell in love with wasn’t a music record, rather it was a comedy album. I would have been about eight or nine when I discovered how to play records and then the album that got me Stan Freberg Presents the United States of America, Volume One: The Early Years (1961).
I used to sit in our sitting room at our house in Timaru and listen to the album over and over again, it got to the piint where I’d be reciting the dialogue back as well …
