I’ve never really played youtube playlists… I’ll dip in and out of them on occasion but generally they’ve never really featured in my life. For my mix of the week this week I wanted to get right out of the dance dance dance music thing that is my default music setting and figured I’d dig around some country and anti folk mixes… which was a pretty unsatisfying experience until I decided to just try some youtube playlists which brought me to todays pick… the Anti-corporate Country/ Bluegrass/ Folk Punk playlist by Maddy Dineen.
Its different… …

Something a little different this week… a straight up 12″ release designed for turntables and the floor. Rare in my world to actually hear the intro beats and stuff that is always culled in a DJ mix – tis a refreshing reminder of ancient times.
As for the track – its nothing special, which is its greatest strength… a solid plodder that makes one smile and nod your head.
“Hot on the heels of the boastfully-titled full-length The Best comes Desert Eagle, Alex Omar Smith’s first 12” of 2016. The title track …

As a young man I spent a year or two living in a flat at 668 Grey Street in the torn, we called the place naturally the neighbour of the beast and got up to all kinds of beastly things-  not as a consequence of our locale but because we were a house of young men who liked to drink, party and generally do things.
One of the residents at the time recently posted a link to some old live recordings of bands our friends were in at the time and as …

I have lists… lots of lists… one of which is a list of songs I just want to hear – often songs I own on vinyl but the wax in question is in storage… so this itch forms that haunts me. Not constantly or any brain damaging kind of itch, just a seemingly random mental reminder that I really want to hear a song and this always sends me off on internet searches usually youtube based wanting to hear the song and put it to bed – if the songs …

Regular reader of my blatherings might have seen me mention International Feel before, which has quietly developed into one of my favourite labels. Starting last year they’ve released a run of albums on single vinyl, and so far all have been great, beginning with Australia’s (?) Len Leise, continuing with CFCF’s “on holiday” which I recommended to ninja for his holiday, and now this record from Wolf Muller and Cass, which is a slow moving ambient balm to the various vexations of the modern world, good for summer afternoons, late …

I’ve never had much time for Electric Wire Hustle… to out it mildly, always thought them to be one of those bands that defy the glowing reviews they’ve often garnered by actually being bloody boring and without much merit song wise, really talented musicians but thats not enough now is it… and then they drop this little number which I’m happily listening to while eating my proverbial hat.
Really want the Beedle mixes… while knowing I also don’t – collector gene versus the yeah nah one.
Also while I can’t get my pretty …

A road crew helps with a rock band’s major multi-city tour.
Seems like a decent enough synapsis for a TV series about the music business… so I took a look inside.
Roadies gives an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of “roadies” who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way. The music-infused ensemble comedy series chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and puts the spotlight on the backstage workers who put the …

Today I’m indulging… some old classics or faves of mine from days gone by… songs that were on high rotate at home and on my various student radio shows of the day all Electronic Body Music styles as they were known then – todays youth would call it old peoples music and that suits me fine ya lit little cunts.

I’d quite like to link to one of the many mixes Websta’s been dropping for my mix of the week but they’re not public so can’t and won’t – not that it would matter I guess as everyone who reads my posts gets the links… and 75% of them probably don’t read my posts anyways.
It’s been another cracking week for mixes, Mumdance’s rinse podcast this week is a cracker (Wayde you need this one in ya life), Kenny Dope’s is as usual, um, dope and well for those like myself who let …
