Can’t really go passed this one.
Featuring all the touchstones of house
Pianos
repitition
House getting mentioned more than occaisionally
(remind me of Bob’s realization that its the only style of music that loves its own name and tells you what you are listening to at every opportunity)
also, a very succinct description of the genre.

I don’t know how I stumbled upon this a week or so back but it really took my ears at the time and I’ve found myself listening to this track and the others on the EP from where it came alongside checking the artist, the label and digging round the whole so to speak… its a wonderful foray into minimal coupled with some delightful eastern sounds.
This morning the weather is a tad grey which is bumming me out and so I’ve dug the tracks out for another blast as they seem …

Mark Farina is a DJ and producer, known for Chicago house, acid jazz and downtempo. He’s well known about these traps, having played in Auckland many times over the years… This is a really bouncy solid mix of his (aren’t they all). It is also a nice change from the techno I’ve had playing all week – refresh yourself and if possible compliment with sunshine and beers!
“Gangstercast 69 brings Farina’s usual or unusual variety of underground chunky funky goodness to new listeners and old heads alike. For the mix he’s …

The obvious mix choice this week would have to be Kenny Dope’s first in a series for Rinse FM, (every Tuesday this month), cause as you’d expect its fab… and I can see myself returning to this one a lot over the next few months, more so if we do some entertaining at home.

Or this DJ Hype mix from Kiss FM cause I love Hype and …

This song reminds me of the more innocent times of my youth…. hot summers driving up and down the country catching waves and going to gigs… experimenting with drugs, staying up late talking shite and wearing woollen hats.
Taken from Rembrandt Pussyhorse the song appears twice in slightly differing guises; the album kicks off with Creep in the Cellar… and finishes with In The Cellar, subtle differences in title and structure of the song – to this day I’m not sure which I prefer and I like that.
When this came out as far …

It’s me again, your boy Benny, back again after a hiatus of a few gloomy weeks. It rained non stop for about 3 weeks. I had my head down with work and study and little fun and it seemed like things were never going to come good. In such times I turn to music and Blackest Ever Black’s comp I can’t give you the life you want was on hand to accentuate the gloom.
I’ve probably mentioned my fondness for this label before, and they continue …

With the discovery of water on Mars I’m sure we all put on this tune and felt as if early John Carpenter had been forced at missle launcher point to smoke crack and write the soundtrack to the apocalypse.
In short… run towards them.

Another week…
Another Russian headline…
Another bunch of individual tunes assembled by a (by me at least) unknown DJ…
Another soundcloud find…
Another Te Finger post now complete
