This is the Beach boys song that gets me over the need to listen to alot of Beach Boys.  It features all the bits i like about them in a couple of mins, crazy bits, harmonious bits and its as catchy as Super-ebolaids!
it also features in Happy Feet, which is the only bit of that movie that is not awful

This week’s mix is just far too easy… too easy to find, too easy to love and too easy to hit the replay button on.
Still no one said finding music was meant to be hard….
“House music’s greatest hit-makers?
Quite possibly. Since the end of the 1980s, Kenny Dope and Louie Vega – given the Masters at Work name, so the story goes, by Todd Terry – have been releasing house and garage anthems with unbelievable regularity. There’s ‘The Ha Dance’ – the track that gave ballroom its trademark Ha crash. There’s ‘Work’, one …

Federsen - Echo Relics [SSD04]

So I stumbled across this album on Silent Season the other day and it is fitting into this grey rainy week pretty well for me. It has replaced my somewhat default Rhythm & Sound night driving in rain playlist in my car.
Dub techno of the squelchy, foggy, more organic kind.

U2 is a withdrawn EP by the experimental music and sound collage band Negativland, released in 1991. The EP and the band gained notoriety when lawyers representing Island Records, the record label of the band U2, sued over misleading artwork and the use of unauthorized sampling.
Negativland’s infamous U2 EP, which included outtakes from American Top 40 host Casey Kasem. In 1991, Negativland released this EP with the title “U2” displayed in very large type on the front of the packaging, and “Negativland” in a smaller typeface. An image of the …

Every Friday at work I pick a song I am currently obsessing over and do a soundcloud search to find a bunch of edits and remixes of said tune… I then grab (Download) those that allow and listen to them.
This is this weeks pick of the crop of Skepta – That’s Not Me finds…

Seemingly a million years ago I made some edits, well lots of edits. Most are quite rubbish, real stupid choices or just leaving you asking `why?’
i figure i might as well share them now.
This one is prolly the best of a bad bunch, some nice disco looped up and left alone

I’ve been in DJ mix overload this week and its been glorious, in between some work related listening that bored and depressed the pants off me I took shelter in a variety of sounds selected, blended, mashed and mixed by some discerning souls covering disco, house, techno, minimal, experimental, dubstep, grime and just mental.
This week my pick wasn’t the most enjoyable or best mix I endured rather its one I dug because it was interesting.
Taken from the Moscow festival Outline’s soundcloud page (which hosts a bunch of you should grab me mixes) the …

I’ve been sweating it this week… with self induced pressure to post a Song of the Week post, searching my listening to find a song I thought was super kick ass and fresh. Alas I found nothing I thought good or bad enough to a) move me or b) move me to share.
Fortunately I have an extensive catalogue of faves from the past 30+ years so given I was listening to a live recording of these dudes today and it was pretty sweet (cheers Al for the link), here is one …

Jo Johnson @ Freerotation 2015

I’ll admit, I may be becoming somewhat obsessed with listening to everything that comes out of this festival. After the the great Objekt @ Freerotation, Magic Mountain High & Hessle Audio sets – here’s a rather beautiful live set from Jo Johnson.
I guess you’d call it ambient, but listening to this at 3am in a yurt would’ve been rather special. Read more about it here
